Hello and welcome to our unique world where you'll see unique people who live in this world full of Pokemon and humans alike. Yet these aren't the only two species who live in this world. A new and unique breed of humans with Pokemon traits, abilities, and moves called gijinka. While they're humans they have the ability to use move sets like any Pokemon and even invent their own moves that they can use based on their personality or life style. Our gijinka lived in a small apartment building in a small village well known for it's slow develop growth and huge supplies of berry trees and bushes.
Due to the large number of berries in this small village many Pokemon, humans, and gijinka visited the place to buy and sample the berries. There was normal berries that could be found anywhere and the mysterious cross breed berries that had differing effects than normal berries. While picking the berries to have them for free was accepted large number of berries could be sold at a fair price to those who sought them to plant and breed, use in battle, or just give to others. One such store specialized in selling these berries by packs, where the berries were hand picked by the customers and packaged by the clerks. This made the store a hot spot for berry fans and while the store was just a simple large tent with some wholes in the top to allow sun light and rain through. This idea was made by the manager who had two employees who would use Rain Dance and Sunny Day to help grow and keep the berries fresh. These would be done three times a day to aid in sells and keeping the customers pleased with the products they were potentially going to buy.
An Umbreon gijinka worked at this berry mart as the sells clerk who would sell the fresh and well kept berries. He hated this job for a few reasons, the biggest reason was interacting with the customer. While most of the people who came were very simple to please and didn't care what kind of berries they were buying since they know they wouldn't last long, others were the complete opposite spectrum of what the Umbreon could handle. Looking over every little berry, testing their squish factor, seeing if they were the best color and shape, and even asking to taste them. Testing them was against the rules since if they bite into it, they pay for it and if they didn't that means our clerk would lose money out of his paycheck. Yes his boss is a bit of a jerk, taking money out of his employees paycheck to pay for damaged or lost goods that weren't pay for.
While the two other gijinka who did Rain Dance and Sunny Day didn't mind that since they rarely lost or damaged products, they wouldn't think nothing of it. Added in the fact they hardly worked while our Umbreon did most of the work and for long hours. Though only for a few days a week it was still painful and hard work. From lifting up the creates the berries were in, sorting the berries, and handling the customers with little help from his boss or other employees.
Unfortunately for Drake Finnegan, our Umbreon gijinka, today was a work day. Yet he would put these kind of days as another day closer to dying from one thing or another. Either a customer would get out of control and attack him with such violence it would end him, or his unfortunate disease would take his life. Born into this world with a disease that would eventually take this life, he found it difficult to find one to be with as he feared what it could lead too, and because of his lack of any social practice during his school years made it near impossible for him to socially get acquainted with others. Thus Drake sought out this job to aid in dealing with others socially and potentially find a mate whom he could relate with and feel happiness with. Fearing that would never happen to him, Drake would just continue his job until the day finally came and he would leave this world to avoid the great pain that so many others have brought him and maybe miss those who cared for him.
As the sun past over the horizon an alarm went off. BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BEEP! BE-p. A hand silenced the alarm as tall slim body rose up from the bed. Blinking a few times before the eyes adjusted to the light, reviling bright red eyes meant to see in the dark better than others. Drake hated mornings for this reasons but this was the only time his boss would give him. Drake's body was a bit of a pale color due to him not wanting to be outside much and wearing an outfit that kept his skin from getting exposure to sun light, yet he always just slept in his pants. Normally going out in public with a unique attire that complemented his Pokemon side, yet that wasn't what would wear today. Taking off his pants and reviling boxers of dark grey color and pulling out a simple black pants that he wore for his job at the Berry Mark. Opening up his closet and grabbing a white long sleeved button shirt and a red vest that he wore over the shirt. Grabbing the name tag off of his end side table and attaching it to his vest, Drake checked his hair having washed it last night, he fixed it with some water from his sink and set out for work.
Opening the door he crept through the halls and saw some of his neighbors either leaving or entering their apartments, saying hello or just ignoring him. It was okay with Drake, as he didn't talk to them much due to his social anxiety, yet there was one he hoped to not run into. His own mother, whom he would fight with on an almost regular bases. She'd yell at him for many reasons, when he was young it was because she wanted him to keep his grades up. This proved to be counter productive. While Drake had great grades, he was unable to keep up with college work and eventually found himself in debt to a college he had a difficult time paying off. His only job to pay for his apartment and college was a very stressful ordeal yet he bore this responsibility to keep his mind focus on other things besides death and how it'll come for him sooner than others.
The walk to work was simple for Drake, yet he wasn't pleased with the bright sun shining through his eyes. As he walked strangers passed him by either on foot or bike, humans, Pokemon or other gijinka. None caught Drake's attention until he was close to work and he suddenly stopped. Right in front of him was the young and beautiful Zubat gijinka, Makani Lasiurus. She wore her usual light blue dress and kept her hair short. The two wings made her easy to spot, yet she kept them closer to her side since she wouldn't easily be able to use them. Around the Zubat's eyes was a wrap tied around tight to hide that fact that she was born an Anophthalmia, missing both of her eyes and leaving her blind. While Makani had some Pokemon by her side to aid in the young one's travels she was still alone without any other being to love or care for her. Similar to Drake. Every time his eyes would fall upon her she felt something inside, not knowing what that feeling was he just knew how wonderful it felt and how horrible the after math of watching the girl leave. He lost focus for a moment before shaking his head to regain focus so he may get to work before being late.
Once arriving to the small ten like area, Drake found a clipboard with names and times written on them. They used this to say when they arrived and left. The manager used this method since he wasn't too fond of the computers either failing sometimes or being messed with so time could added or subtracted to make one seem they worked their full hours and was on time. Drake wrote his name and time he came in, right on time and took his position behind the stands that held all of the berries from Sitrus to Nanab berries, they had them all. To be sold to all who had use of them for whatever reason there was.
"There he is, and on time too. How are we doing today Drake?" a large and slightly over weight gijinka Noctowl. While most slept during the day he found it more interesting to be awake in the day. While this made him odd he found ways to sleep during both day and night to enjoy them both.
"What do you think about today's berries? Don't they look amazing? Fresh and ripe. Just waiting to be sold to our loyal customers. So how do you think we'll do with sales today son?"
"I believe we'll have a fantastic sales today, Mr. Don Kupole," Drake addressed his boss by his full name and looked at the berries to avoid his bosses eyes. Since he had a way to make others get lost into them and buy more than they intended or work more for less pay that day.
"That's what I want to hear son, now you tend to those customers with a smile, make them feel welcome, and for the love of Arceus don't get into any fights with the customer!" Don told Drake who was trying to get him to look directly at him.
"I will do my best to keep my cool sir, as you always told me too," Drake replayed in an almost monotone voice after telling his boss these words over and over again. Don looked at Drake, nodded and went to his office to take care of paper work and plan the next planting and harvesting schedule for the berries.
Letting out a deep sigh before any customers could come in and prevent Drake from doing so. "Let the Hell begin," Drake spoke with a sadden voice wanting to be anywhere but here right now.
This is a WIP commission for Digsie who wanted me to make a story with her gijinka character Drake, working in a store selling berries to customers. This isn't completed and will be finished in a few days. I wanted to share this and see what people think and there will be grammar mistakes so please don't feel bashful to point them out. That is all. Have a nice day.
